Startupper under regional incubation program
Based on the existing customisations of ERP and optimized project methodology (project with less
than 4 months and limited budget), with the local project manager based in US or India.
I was working as a project lead to give directions for roll-outs, managing the program globally
(preparation of budget, planning, contact with project management office, negotiating in the
steering when required, point of reference for stakeholders and project managers).
Project managers were responsible for SAP technical implementation, and I was responsible for
arbitration in scope and technical choices (purchase of printers for example). I provided
functional reference for the chemical regulation requirements and the key users during the
projects. With these roll-outs, the sites are now ready and integrated to start the second phase
with automation and migration to the newest version of SAP S4/Hana.
Preparation for process safety project
Replacement of existing tools in a single web-based application with 606 K€ in budget (cost of
licenses and roll-outs in the next 3 years). I managed the existing application (Sphera Stature)
for three years, making data migrations, users training and administration with supplier contract
management, and third party support, until it was decided to make a project to consolidate the
processes in a unique tool. I worked on the requests for information and requests for proposals
(RFI/RFP) in order to find the appropriate supplier.
I prepared the update project (phasing, planning, budgeting, preparing resources, and transitioning
to another project manager leading the roll-outs for the next few years). I followed the standard
Solvay project agile methodology and made the different validation steps with stakeholders,
purchase and legal departments in order to settle the project expectations firmly.
Once the project is live, the Solvay users (150 contributors and 750 readers) will have only one
tool sharing the methodology (based on HAZOP/LOPA) to manage process hazards assessments
and their documents on one web platform in AWS private Amazon cloud. The gains are estimated
in mitigating the risks (such as chemical leaks, explosions, injuries and loss of quality in
production) by sharing the appropriate practices at the group level.
Consolidating projects for various sites using SAP EHS, GLM, MM, SD (budget
around 300K€)
Roll-outs of SAP solution for existing facilities partially using SAP EHS, or new tollers and
distribution centers, that were not using SAP solution. I led the program for the roll-outs of the sites
that were not fully operational with the SAP solution. The scope was prioritized to the process for
labeling of dangerous goods produced, intermediaries or raw materials. With the steering
approval, the scope was usually extended to extra SAP targets (simplification of supply chain
tasks, standardization and optimization of support).
I provided training when required (usually with train-the-trainer model) and prepared web-based
training material as well. Over the last few years I worked directly in the SAP systems (dev /
quality and production) in order to optimize the time to print labels (for example using ST12
transaction, or contacting infrastructure services to check timestamps and stability of platform). I
could elaborate with ABAP developers (based in Portugal or in India) in order to optimize code and
create a framework to better use the application and its interfaces.
Closure of Solstice Aero program (for around 33M€ in total investments and
projects for 3 years)
I participated during three years in multiple information systems roll-outs for the merged
companies that Solvay bought in 2016 (Cytec with Technology Solutions, Composite Materials,
Aero). The program targets were based on the spreading of the core model in the concerned
merged entities.
I had different roles during this program, participating in design with key users in the US or in
France, communicating with steering about incident management, piloting the testing units in India
or France, performing the cut-over, go-live and SAP training in Wrexham, UK.
When Solvay bought Rhodia, it was decided to keep the two legacy ERP and use some of the
main functions in Rhodia ERP, keeping sales, production or finance data in different systems with
consolidation levels. A first project (called Convergence) was undertaken in 2015 in order to
merge the definition of chemical products and their activities in the group.
a new project was concluded in order to provide more functionalities using Rhodia ERP for
the plants requiring chemical product labeling for example. The project successfully provided the
capacity for any site in Solvay to use the functionality, be it from Rhodia or Solvay legacy. I
created the necessary specifications, customizing, business functions activation and tests in order
to make this system work. The first customer for this function was Panasonic who was satisfied by
our Solvay Japan customer sales representative.
During this period, the Cincinnati, OH, site in the US (source for Nocolok products), was created
from a copy of Germany core model and linked to Chicago sales activities, creating a mix of ERP
functionalities, transparently for the users. I participated in this roll-out project as an expert for the
SAP EHS, communicating with product stewards and the other facilities in order to make a smooth
and reliable implementation.
NEREID mobile warehouse program
This program provided Solvay plants with the capacity to better manage their warehouses with
automation, scanning of produced goods for inventory management, using SAP Nereid framework
(Fiori like application).
I participated directly in the roll-outs in France, Germany and Poland with presence on site for
several weeks in order to perform the users acceptance tests with expertise on SAP and
automation of SAP EHS labeling solution. The main difficulties of these projects (lack of WIFI or
network coverage, complexity in SAP usage, turnover in project management) were solved in a
timely fashion thanks to the cohesion and the professionalism of our team.
At the end of the projects the sites were provided with better tools in order to scan drums, totes
and directly control deliveries, production, batch planning and raw material consumption thanks to
SAP.
Program manager for chemical products labeling, and technical process safety applications.
