This project is to cater for Member bank reporting as well as visa internal reporting; a need for an architecture, which could support all business needs, is felt. Visa US and Europe have separate DW systems and AP decided to venture into one of its own. All transactions related to AP region is collected and sent to US for processing and cleansing. This cleansed data will be received as a form of flat file and then transformed and loaded into the DW. Data marts or simply aggregate tables will be designed to meet the various Business Applications’ reporting needs using the OLAP tool Microstrategy 7.2.2. DB2 is decided to be the backend database on a mainframe.

Project Risk Management, VISA AP intends to build an Application, Risk Activity Monitoring Service (RAMS), which would help identify the merchants who skim the accounts. The merchant where the skimming occurs is called a Common Purchase Point (CPP). VISA Analyst, Issuer, Acquirer, and Law Enforcement will access the application for identifying the CPPs. To identify the suspected CPPs based on the rules given by Risk Management. To help VISA Analyst to narrow down the suspected CPPs from the calculated metrics using the visualization tools. To alert the members about the merchants who are identified as CPP. To help acquirers, issuers and law enforcement enter the information related to CPP merchants and accounts.
