Position: Consultant/Technical Architect/Project Manager on Arbor products
Throughout my time at the company, my role within the consulting organisation has covered a wide range of tasks and activities that include the following:
Business Consulting roles (IPA): The assignments around this role involved business requirements gathering and subsequent translation of these requirements into data modelling solutions
Customer Support roles: The main tasks associated to this role included problem analysis, troubleshooting and performance studies.
Special Assignment roles: The tasks associated to this role generally involved short-term assignments on client site in order to deal with highly focused subjects within restricted timeframes. Typical activities included software installation, performance assessments and fine tuning of specific modules
Technical Architecture roles: As part of the architecture team, the main tasks that I undertook in this role included the design, specification and validation of solutions built around Arbor product suite.
Project Management roles: As part of this role my main activities included the organisation and overall management of Arbor implementation and test activities
With respect to the assignments themselves, these roles were mainly carried out for well-established telecom operators (PTTs) for complex projects that have now proved successful.
1996 – 1998 France Telecom – Sofrecom
Position: Billing and Customer Care software designer & developer
My job was the design, development and maintenance of a Billing and Customer Care software application (Unix/Oracle).
It also involved on-site assignments for troubleshooting, migration & software installs.
1993 – 1996 International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (Barcelona – Spain)
Position: Reseach & Development Engineer
During this assignment, I was in charge of developing scientific software applications (finite elements) on various kind of parallel computers (MIMD, SIMD, clusters, etc.) for a Brite/Euram EEC-sponsored project.
As part of this role, my tasks included optimisation, benchmarking and development of innovative numerical methods (mesh partitioning for load balancing) as well as writing result papers and preparing presentations for regular meetings with other European research teams.
Unix system administration was also part of that assignment.
1993 (9 months) Electricite de France (EDF) – Nuclear services
Position: Software Engineer
During my time at EDF I was in charge of studying the portability of several GUI toolkits and GUI generators on various platforms (MS-Windows, MacOS and Unix). This position also involved the design and development of several prototypes using these various toolkits which subsequently lead to a full production of a real life application (Curve Smoothing)
As part of my role, I was also in charge of specifying coding guidelines and rules for future in-house developments using the chosen tool.

Position: Student training period
Development of a Computer Assisted Levelling program for in-house architects.
1991 (1 month) Michelin
Position: Student training period
Data processing. The aim of that training period was to confront the students with a real hands-on working experience.
