Compliance Advisory: Responsible for optimization of Compliance processes, particularly related to
Sanctions and AML-CFT. Drafted definitions and policy documents concerning financial crime high risk payments and client typologies and trained Investigations staff at Level 1 staff on best practice to identify and document risks using case studies. Created and updated weekly dashboard to track progress in key themes and actions.
Revised policies for correspondent banking, including definitions, risk tolerance and implementation of risk mitigation to enable CACIB to meet ambitious growth targets in cash management while reducing risk. Reviewed and collaborated on revision of AML scenarios and thresholds.

correspondent banking, KYC review and risk support sign-off, AML-CFT risk assessments and how to raise unusual and suspicious activity reports. Collaborated with
Group Risk Analytics, AML Investigations, Cash Management Sales, ALCM, Brexit Programme, Group Compliance, EWRA and Transaction Monitoring and Investigations to ensure HBFR has sufficient controls, systems, personnel and training to manage Compliance risks within a defined risk appetite. Responsible for all aspects of Financial Crime Risk Governance.
As result of a Deferred Prosecution Agreement, requested by Group Exco to establish a new AML-CFT framework to conduct KYC and Enhanced Due Diligence on all
HSBC Affiliate to Affiliate relationships, with a focus on correspondent banks, to at least the same standards as that of as third-party clients. Recruited a global team of 16 FTEs in Hong Kong, London and New York to help complete, review and sign 4,700 KYC files and write new KYC and AML policies. Also responsible for ensuring 64 main HSBC banking entities elevated KYC files on circa 600,000 third party clients from local standards to global standards using a risk-based approach within an ambitious timeline. Trained front-line RMs how to review KYC files and write a Risk Support Statement. Met frequently with the Monitor and the regulatory staff at the FCA/PRA and Federal Reserve Bank to provide progress updates.
Payments and Cash Management Sales
Team Leader, responsible for product sales, managing 4 FTEs and a portfolio of over 200 clients throughout Europe. Helped to increase annual revenues from USD4.0mn
in 2010 to USD9.5mn in 2013 via new business acquisition, recruitment, higher revenue targets, training and coaching. Helped the Treasurer and CFO of one client save USD10mn in annual liquidity charges by implementing HSBC’s proprietary applications to cost-effectively manage intra-day liquidity, for which HSBC was awarded an additional USD2mn in new business.
Responsible for selling Cash Management and Trade Finance services to banks and NBFIs in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Also responsible for managing credit risk and limits. Deepened cash management relationships with large banks according to a “national champions” strategy and re-priced LCs in line with CDS prices to generate significant additional revenues. Reduced unsecured credit exposures in favor of collateralized limits.
Financial Institutions Group, Global Head of Banks
Recruited and managed a diverse sales team of 23 FTEs to originate and cross-sell across the entire product range, with a focus on syndicated loans, cash management, trade finance, custody, and debt capital markets. Key responsibilities included acting as senior sales manager for prime clients, coaching and assisting the team with proposals and client planning, setting revenue targets, and overall FIG strategy, performance evaluation and management reporting. Deepened relationships with numerous top-tier banks throughout Europe. Helped Fortis to increase cash management revenues from a predominantly Benelux Euro proposition to a pan European model by focusing on FX payments, simplified billing, reciprocity and leveraging the committed loan portfolio.
