Oracle Financials Business/Functional Analyst
PepsiCo International UK (originally Walkers Snack Foods) in Theale, Berkshire.
11/2002 - 7/2009
Project Work :
OPM Manufacturing Accounting. I was an OPM Functional Analyst on a major project to replace a legacy manufacturing accounting system (&ldquoManacc&rdquo) with OPM (11.5.6). OPM had already been implemented at PIUK (as part of the P2P project) but little functionality had been used this project introduced OPM formula, recipe, batch and costing functionality, together with a Frito-Lay customisation known as "Multibatch". My main role was to act as the interface between the business and the technical team, preparing functional specifications and carrying out application set-up, testing, data conversion and data take-on and UAT (User Acceptance Testing), as well as preparing and delivering training to management and end-users. My particular area of expertise was in the financial integration between OPM and GL, developing a number of custom journal-creation routines as well as defining all the MAC account mapping for the standard OPM and Purchasing postings.

Upgrade of Oracle Financials
-
I was heavily involved in specification and testing in the areas of OPM, Purchasing and iProcurement, with occasional involvement in AP and AR upgrade testing.

Sarbanes-Oxley.
-
I was chosen to be the main IT resource for writing, quality-controlling and executing test scripts for the IT side of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing. Worked with internal and external auditors during the project and received a commendation for quality of the documentation I had produced.

Credit Card Processing
-
I was involved in the business requirements gathering and functional design for the migration of a legacy bespoke American Express card processing system from the HP3000 environment to an Oracle AP environment.
Replacement of GEMMS with OPM. I was the lead functional analyst in a project to retire the GEMMS application and replace it with OPM functionality. As part of this project I designed and implemented a new &lsquoProduct holds&rsquo application within OPM that transformed the way that holds were managed and reported on.

Upgrade of Oracle Financials from 11.5.9 to 11.5.10. I was a functional analyst in this project and was involved in analysis and testing in the OPM, Purchasing and OPM Financials areas.

Various smaller projects. In addition to the major projects listed above, I provided business analyst/functional analyst support in other projects related to business expansion and reorganisation such as a change of reporting calendar from 13 to 12 periods, the integration of new manufacturing sites into the existing Oracle Financials setup, and the conversion of existing manufacturing sites to the &lsquoSwissCo&rsquo model within Oracle Financials.

Contract Oracle
iProcurement, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Purchasing and Oracle Inventory trainer in UK, France and Italy.
8/2002 - 11/2002
On contract to OATrain LLC, an American Oracle Financials training company that was the prime contractor for end-user training in the Oracle iProcurement, Purchasing and Inventory (11i) roll-out in Alcoa Europe. I was involved in developing course materials and delivering training - in English in UK, in Italian in Italy and in French in France.

Business/Functional Analyst at Walkers Snack Foods (part of PepsiCo International)
Theale, Berkshire.
5/1998 - 8/2002
Project Work :
Oracle Financials R10.7. The first project I worked on was the installation of Oracle Financials R10.7 (GL and AP) to run on an HP9000 platform. My role was to develop interfaces into Oracle Financials from those HP3000 systems that were not being replaced. These interfaces were developed in COBOL and SUPRTOOL, and involved, among other things, mapping old charts of accounts to the new chart of accounts in use in Oracle GL. The business areas involved were Raw Material Invoice Price Variance, Sales Invoicing, Potato Purchase Invoices, Finished Goods Samples and Destructions, Credit Card billing and Cash Application. This project went live in January 1999.

System Ess R5.1 and Oracle AR R10.7. At the start of the summer of 1999 I became involved in a second project, the implementation of System Ess R5.1 and Oracle AR R10.7. I was involved in all aspects of the dataload, and in the numerous interfaces between Ess and various legacy systems. The dataload for Ess involved using API&rsquos and &lsquoscreen-scrapers&rsquo. I spent my time working on both the HP3000 and HP9000 platforms and as part of the interface work I started to use PL/SQL. Both projects and the related application support involved me in a lot of discussions and analysis with the user community as well as with third party software houses. System Ess is now known as IMI-Order.

P2P. The third project was a 'Purchase to Pay' project which involved installing Oracle Purchasing and OPM R11i, and re-implementing the existing Oracle Financials GL, AP and AR applications in R11i. My role was principally that of an OPM and GL functional and business analyst but also as an interface analyst for interfaces between PO, OPM, GL and AP and legacy HP3000 systems. My work involved working with the user community and the technical developers to devise solutions to business requirements, running workshops and 'Conference Room Pilots' , writing functional specifications, devising test scripts, doing application set-up in Purchasing, OPM and GL, writing training materials and delivering training.

Support Manager at Infinium Software (formerly Software 2000), Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
EMEA
9/1996 - 5/1998
Infinium Software (formerly Software 2000), Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.

Infinium are now owned by Infor, but back in 1996 Infinium were called Software 2000, and they were an American software company well-established in the UK. They developed, installed and supported payroll, personnel and back-office financial applications (GL, AP, AR) for the AS/400. The Bourne End office was the EMEA headquarters in the UK they had several household names as customers, such as the Royal Mail, Woolworth, BOC and Northern Dairies.

Initially, I was responsible for running the department that supported Infinium&rsquos customers in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa and Australia. My work involved frequent visits to customer sites &ndash in the UK and abroad, and to distributors in Spain - and a good deal of executive contact. I was involved in pre-sales presentations and presented at the annual user conference in 1997.

In January 1997 Infinium acquired Time Open Systems, a small accounting software house in Chatham, Kent, and for the next 9 months I divided my time between the Infinium offices in Bourne End and Chatham, as I was responsible for the support of all of the Time customers too. I recruited a new team to support the Time customers and by the summer of 1997 had integrated it into the support department in Bourne End. At this point I decided to hand over management of the AS/400 customer base in order to concentrate on managing the support of the Time customers and Infinium&rsquos new NT Financials software which was being implemented in several customer sites. By the spring of 1998 it was becoming apparent to me that without significant improvement, the new product was unsupportable, so I decided to seek a role elsewhere, and entered the world of contracting.

I used COBOL and POWERHOUSE to maintain and develop the financial interfaces that had been written in-house since the late 1980&rsquos. I used my knowledge of HYPAX to customise areas of the SOP/POP systems. I used POWERHOUSE (QUIZ and QTP) to maintain and develop numerous reports for all areas of the business. I was responsible for operations on all 3 machines.
