2003 - 2008 Webmaster, ********; self-employed multimedia author. I run a small web-based ebook and screensaver publishing business, which now occupies me only a few hours a week. I am now seeking full-time freelance / contract work in the technical writing and IT / BCP audit fields, primarily based in France.

April 2001 to May 2003 Contract BCP Co-ordinator / Business Analyst / Technical Author / Project Manager, Deutsche Bank E-FXIT Team, London EC1.
I produced a Documentation Architecture, Process and Policy Manual, Project Development Process, Business Continuity Planning documents (Grab Packs, Technical Recovery Plans, role-based checklists) for the e-commerce, FX Options & Front Desk teams in FXIT (Foreign Exchange IT), working closely with the Audit, Security and BCP teams. I also produced the Core Requirements document for DB’s “FX+ White Label Solution”, as well as numerous other business and technical specifications, and ad hoc user documentation, for the FX e-commerce team. I also acted as Project Manager for the Online Confirmations application.

October 2000 to Feb 2001 Content Management Team Leader, ********, London. Responsible for recruiting and training a team of six content developers for ********, a B2C internet startup. During this contract, I developed processes, tool specifications, and prototype “conversations” for the specification and selection of a wide range of high-value products and services, dealing on a daily basis with board members and senior Oracle / Java developers. The role also involved a considerable amount of research into existing online shopping sites, as well as demographics, artificial intelligence and natural language processing technologies.

May 2000 to October 2000 Contract Business Analyst, ********, London. Responsible for producing business plans, proposals, RFIs, user guides, tech specs, patent applications, business processes and procedures for corporate security and problem resolution, Help Desk Systems evaluation, HR pack, FSA compliance documents, specs for marketing flyer and B2B website for this City e-commerce startup (the first real-time global electronic trading service for Foreign Exchange options), funded by a consortium of investment banks.

November 1999 to May 2000 Contract Consultant/Project Manager, OnCom (sub-contractor to Warburg Dillon Reed), London. Working for the Group-wide Data Services team. Responsible for: a) Pilot scoping for a document management system and initial installation of Documentum as a trial product. I produced feasibility and test plans working closely with the vendors and inhouse technical staff. I also directed several business analysts to research competitive document/content management products and related technologies; b) Contributing to the UBS Group Cross-divisional Process Initiative: producing business case documents and presentations for members of IT and business management from WDR, Private Banking and the Private & Corporate Clients divisions in London and Switzerland.

May 1998 – October 1999 Contract Project Manager, Perot Systems Corporation, London. Following the SBC/UBS merger, our team moved to the new bank’s IT FM company, Perot. I worked within the Global Implementation Team, which provides project management resources for infrastructure projects and IT systems for Warburg Dillon Read and the UBS Private Bank. I was been involved in setting up the Major Projects Office and Private Banking Programme Office: designing processes, checklists, spreadsheets, to help in IT project management, data collection and gap analysis.

I spent nine months working largely in Paris and Milan, as IT Project Manager for the new UBS Private Bank onshore operations there, responsible for setting up IT infrastructure for 120 staff at Boulevard Haussmann, and for migrating the Milan office to the corporate NT-based platform. Duties involved co-ordinating the technical streams (NT platform, voice and network services, premises and security projects), as well as liaising with senior management, French and Italian suppliers and sub-contractors.

I then spent six months in the role of Regional Project Manager for Y2K remediation of laptops, responsible for upgrading hardware and software on 3000 machines in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. I recruited and managed technical teams totalling 25 staff and contractors, covering locations from Moscow to Johannesburg. Other duties involved assisting the Global Programme Manager and liaising with other Regional Managers, Business Line Managers and technical consultants. We completed remediation successfully, within tight timescales and to budget.

April 1997 to May 1998 Contract Documentation Team Leader, Union Bank of Switzerland, London. Responsible for recruiting and scheduling a team of six technical authors, producing application support and user documents for a wide range of in-house and third party banking products. Also BPR for the DDI (Design, Develop, Implement) process / department. Migrating documents to a Notes / Domino-based document management system.
Main areas of experience: networking; Oracle/UNIX client-server; NT 4.0; middleware; business process re-engineering; disaster recovery; trading, credit and settlement systems; document templates and standards; intranet / internet; document management.

March 1997 - April 1997 Contract Technical Author, Lloyd's Bank Treasury Division, London. A short-term assignment to cover for a permanent member of staff on sick leave. I wrote documentation for users (dealers) and systems administrators, to support Front Office Development systems including the Credit Risk Enquiry System.

July 1996 to February 1997 Contract BPR Team Leader, Coopers & Lybrand / Exxon Company International, Leatherhead. In conjunction with a team of Coopers and Lybrand management consultants, I recruited and managed a team of six technical authors in the UK, and a sub-team in Philadelphia.
As part of Esso's World Class 2000 initiative, a strategic, worldwide, business process re-engineering project, we developed 14 modules to allow implementation of new processes for Customer Order Fulfilment. These covered business lines, regional customer service centres, plus supporting financial mechanisms, Oracle and SAP systems.

November 1994 to June 1996 Contract Documentation Analyst / Team Leader, IBM RAF LITS Project, Stevenage. As part of the User Support Department, staffed largely by Coopers and Lybrand consultants, I researched and wrote the Documentation Needs Analysis report for the RAF's Logistics Information Technology Strategy system. I also developed user procedures and documentation prototypes as part of the Jaguar Fleet's Data Migration to this system.
I helped recruit a team of 10 technical authors, then acting as one of two Team Leaders. I also developed the team's FrameBuilder templates and specified a number of API extensions to the product to allow automatic document configuration.

November 1992- September 1994 Contract Technical Author / Procedures Analyst, Eurotunnel PLC. I wrote and produced technical and training documentation and online Help for Oracle SQL*Forms systems including the Technical Documentation Management System, Customer Management System and Concessions System.
