Convergys was sub-contractor to Atos. We delivered all billing customisation & integration services, within the overall SI transformation project led by Atos. I represented my company at the Steering Committees.
“Scope-creep” a major issue. 2 year project duration. 19 Change Requests prior to go-live. Increased services revenues +100% .

The scope was to upgrade the Convergys rating & billing engine and replace the legacy mediation software.
8 months delivery. Convergys was prime contractor. The Project Manager reported to me. I represented Convergys at the Steering Committees.
The project was required to meet the July 1st 2010 deadline of the European Union “anti-bill-shock” regulation. Slippage was not an option, so the risk mitigation plan had to be truly exhaustive.

3 business-critical data conversion projects to convert the currency in the rating & billing system
- 2005 Orange Romania billing currency conversion from Old Lei to New Lei.
- 2006 Orange Romania rating currency conversion from US$ to €.
- 2008 Orange Slovakia adoption of the € as national currency.
In all these projects the Project Manager reported to me.
These projects necessitated developping, testing and running scripts on the database to convert all monetary fields. The balance on each customer's account had to be identical before & after the conversion.
Our contract imposed severe quality criteria for go-live. We also had to meet government-imposed deadlines. Achieving near-perfect balances required iterations of script running, checking the balance results, and taking appropriate corrective action on the scripts and/or the data.
In each project we beat the contractual go-live requirements and received the customer's congratulations.

- 2008 Orange Romania : consultancy assignment to advise the finance department how to make best use of reporting facilities of the billing system
- 2009 Orange Réunion : study and recommendations to make the customer's IS ready for the launch of 3G technology on the island
A Billing software major version upgrade, for Bouygues Telecom
Upgrade services delivered by Capgemini.
My role was to undertake responsibility for the software quality of the new version and report on bug fixing. Relatively few bugs but very demanding customer, expecting a higher than usual level of attention from Convergys.
I had to manage customer escalations to executive-level.
I played a dual-facing role across cultural boundaries : managing this French customer's expectations of the supplier, and simultaneously my American executives' understanding of the customer's behaviour.
