• Freelance analyst/developer

  Set up as a free-lance software developer in a small town in the south of France mid-2013. The work
  mostly involves writing device drivers, building the kernel, and developing applications for embedded
  Linux systems in the wonderful world of industrial control. Telemetry via GSM/GPRS is usually an
  integral part of these systems, and there is almost always an external microcontroller (Microchip PIC or
  Cortex M0) for the grunt work of data acquisition.

  Le travail consiste principalement à écrire des pilotes de périphériques, à construire le noyau et
  à développer des applications pour les systèmes Linux embarqués dans le monde du contrôle
  industriel. La télémétrie via GSM/GPRS fait généralement partie intégrale de ces systèmes, et il y a
  presque toujours un microcontrôleur externe (Microchip PIC ou Cortex M0 par exemple) pour le gros
  travail d'acquisition de données.

  archaeology involving Gespac SBC under OS-9 for Alstom and the Belleville-sur-Loire nyclear power
  station. Mostly C, VB, various assemblers and some T-SQL.
  Clients included SNCF (fibre-optic linked data acquisition stations for the TGV), Hach-Lange (building
  device drivers and the WinCE kernel for a custom motherboard), Vetrotex, Schneider and Cla-Val.
  Most interesting mission: developing and installing the control and telemetry (via Inmarsat) systems for
  the degassing project for lakes Nyos and Monoun in Cameroon.

  Systèmes industriels et d'acquisition de données et développement d'applications PC personnalisées.
  1993 - 2013

  Archéologie industrielle impliquant Gespac SBC sous OS-9 pour Alstom et la centrale nucléaire de
  Belleville-sur-Loire. Principalement C, VB, divers assembleurs et T-SQL.
  Parmi les clients figuraient la SNCF (stations d'acquisition de données reliées par fibre optique pour le
  TGV), Hach-Lange (pilotes afficheur et d’autre materiel spécifique, customisation du noyau WinCE pour
  une carte mère personnalisée), Vetrotex, Schneider et Cla-Val.
  Mission la plus intéressante : développer et installer les systèmes de contrôle et de télémétrie (via
  Inmarsat) pour le projet de dégazage des lacs Nyos et Monoun au Cameroun.

  Porting the X25 packet-switching billing suite (COBOL) supplied by Bull-Honeywell to a Fujitsu FACOM
  mainframe (IBM plug-compatible)

• Operator, programmer/analyst, systems programmer: PNCC, New Zealand

  1979 - 1984

  The council served about 100,000 people, responsible for rates, power and water billing amongst other
  things, plus all the internal stuff such as accounting, payroll ...
  Mostly COBOL and FORTRAN development on an NCR Criterion mainframe running VRX, the
  systems programmer role involved the optimisation, care and feeding of the system.
