Roadmap for Vision Based Navigation functions [2021]
Airbus Commercial
Context : Airbus commercial is introducing navigation and surveillance functions based on new sensors. The
goal of this project was to study the different enablers for this technology (data, software, hardware, V&V and
certification), understand their roadmap, and create a roadmap for the different functions coherent of the enablers
maturity. This work was presented to top management and supported the make and buy strategy of the whole
Center of Competence (~3000 persons) regarding vision based functions.

Autonomous Taxi, Take-Off, and Landing [2018-2020]
Airbus Upnext, Airbus Defense and Space, Acubed
Context : Automating Taxi, Take-Off and Landing for large commercial aircraft (demonstration on A350) based
only on visual and inertial sensors. Tens of actual flights with the fully autonomous system. Contributions to
ground detect and avoid, especially perception, and to landmark-based navigation with machine learning.
Integration of a SLAM based on sensor fusion. Setting up and execution of a mobile bench for ground data
acquisition.

Context: Evaluation of the ACAS Xu algorithm for unmanned aircraft collision avoidance. Contributions through
coordination of ENAC, DTI and Safran teams, integration of sensor models, integration of collision avoidance
algorithms with traffic models. V&V activities, including data generation and metrics definition, as well as
reporting.
